A mobile pedestal is a small drawer unit on castors that rolls under a desk and pulls out when you need it. It gives each person their own storage without taking floor space, and moves with them when desks are reconfigured. Melbourne Office Furniture stocks two, three and four-drawer versions.

Most standard desks clear a mobile pedestal, but height varies with drawer count — a two-drawer unit sits lower than a four-drawer. Measure from the floor to the underside of your desk frame before ordering, then check the product specifications. Our Laverton North team can confirm the fit if you're unsure.

Yes, pedestals in the range are lockable, usually with one key securing every drawer. That matters under a hot desk or in an open-plan office where nothing else is secured. If you're running a hot-desking floor, tell us the headcount and we'll advise on key management across a set of units.

Two or three drawers suit most desk work — shallow drawers for stationery and one deeper drawer for files. A four-drawer unit holds more but sits higher, so check desk clearance first. Our range covers two, three and four-drawer configurations, so match it to what actually gets stored rather than buying the biggest.

A pedestal is personal storage on castors that lives under one desk. A filing cabinet is fixed, taller, and built to hold a department's records. If you're storing one person's day-to-day things, buy a pedestal; if you're storing files a whole team shares, buy a filing cabinet.

Mobile pedestals at Melbourne Office Furniture start at $161 for a two-drawer unit and run to $425 for a four-drawer filing cabinet, with three and four-drawer pedestals in between. They arrive fully assembled. For a floor of desks, ask us for a bulk quote rather than buying them one at a time.
