A glassboard has a toughened glass writing surface that doesn't stain or ghost, so it still looks new after years of daily use. A traditional whiteboard costs less, but the surface wears. Many are, but the glass is thick, so ordinary magnets won't hold — you need rare earth magnets, which are strong enough to work through the surface. Starphire is low-iron glass with the greenish tint of ordinary glass removed, so whites read as true white and colours stay accurate. On a standard glassboard you'll see a faint green cast, most obvious on a white board. It matters most in boardrooms and design studios where the board is on show.
